Is it time to get an attorney?

What is the name of your state? Florida

Acutally we live in South Carolina now, but the injury happened on job in Florida.
This is how it went down.
I had already given notice and was going to work out my final two weeks. I fell off a ladder and twisted my leg. The boss sent me to the doctor and the doctor said I could do limited duty. But here is the situation. I am a painter. The doctor checked off, no walking, no kneeling, no standing, no climbing etc.
How am I supposed to do my job? Plus be on crutches. There was no limited duty so the boss told me to stay home. Then when the MRI was done and they found a torn Medial Meniscus and I may have to have surgery the boss kept saying come to work I have light duty for you. NOT TRUE. I had to leave in 4 hours as the swelling and pain become so bad.
Anyway I did receive one check from Comp company. They have found me an Orthopedic doctor here in South Carolina and I see him on Thursday.
The thing is the Comp company says they have not paid me for the past 2 weeks as my boss said he did have light duty work for me. He is flat out lying.
Do you think I should consult with an attorney? The boss also told other employees that when I left there he would see to it that I did not get anymore money from the workmans comp insurance company.
What am I to do?
Thanks for any response. Sorry so long.

Yes, I think you should consult with a WC attorney. I expect you're going to need to take this to a hearing with the State and you're going to need an attorney for that.
