What is the name of your state? Illinois  Mother had durable power of attorney drawen up in Florida 4 yrs ago, naming myself, brother and sister-in-law as durable power of attorney, either one of whom may act alone without joinder or consent of the other. Moved in with me (daughter) I have taken care of her ever since. Is this document just as valid in the state of illinois or does another have to made in Illinois, she has since developed mild dementia. We all were named so that whomever she was with could act on her behalf. Can someone answer this question? Thank YOu

For your own protection you will need to take it to a business law or family law or probate attorney in Illinois to see how legal it would be there, since it is not very likely that an Illinois attorney would be reading this message board.
