What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota

Brief details: Person with paranoid schizophrenia has not been hospitalized since 1998 while having medicines very well managed by physician with quarterly or more visits. Originally diagnosed 35 years ago. Has never had a suicide attempt.

Person has been within baseline the entire last 18 years. Doctor retired last month and case given to someone else. They took away one med before he's seen them and begins to deteriorate. Sees nurse practitioner a week later who makes 3 more major medication changes, so 4 in a week.

Person becomes very distrustful and delusional. Lives by himself but sister calls doctor and is told unless he threatening to hurt himself, there's nothing they can do. No welfare check by police or other professional ever occurs. Four days later he is dead by a method I don't care to disclose due to the horrific nature.

Total time from 18 year baseline to suicide is 17 days under new physicians/nurse practitioner's care. Is there potentially a case here?

Is there potentially a case? Potentially.

Who is this person to you?

Medication changes without any examination of the patient first seems problematic. The sister might wish to speak to a malpractice attorney for a personal review.
