What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OR

Hello!

This question is really only for my own documentation purposes. I document everything (as I've read to do so from numerous sources.)

My kids were appointed an attorney during our custody dispute this past year. I had to beg for billing statements from this attorney through my attorney and finally started receiving them AFTER the hearing was over. Still, I have to call each month to request them (I'm paying the balance off in small payments) because the attorney's assistant always seems to "forget."

I would like a copy of the retainer agreement for this attorney, if there is one. How does that work when the court appoints an attorney for children in a custody dispute?

Also - am I entitled to any other documentation from this attorney since I've paid 50% of their fee?

Additional info: The attorney's name was among three names given by the judge for my EX's attorney to choose from.

Thanks to all who contribute to answering my question :)

The retainer agreement for an appointed attorney is the COURT ORDER and also the local rules.

Thanks for your answer.

Hmm I don't think I ever saw a court order for her appointment; just the letter from ex's attorney, stating that she had been appointed.

I'll check again with the county that oversaw our case.

Thanks!
