What is the name of your state? IN

I'm looking for a way to back out of a lease extention signed last Febuary. I've been living in this appt since Aug 4th 2001 and have had to renew a 1 year lease in Feb each time for the following Aug 4th. My current signed lease is until August 4th. I have also signed a lease for the same unit that starts August 1 of this year.........is this a potential technicality to use to invalidate this lease agreement/extention since my current lease isn't up untill Aug 4th, and this new lease starts Aug 1 (when its physically impossible to have two leases on the same appartment unit at the same time....or is it)?

To make a long story short I know I screwed up by falling for the high pressure tactic in Feb, but need to know if this is an avenue out.

Thanks
Eric

this is an easy problem.

you have two choices, tell the landlord you want out of the lease and move. Then the landlord will take their sweet time in finding a new tenant and you will be responsible for all the rent and expenses till they do.

Thats kinda exensive isnt it?

well then, if you want something from the landlord YOU will have to do the work. You can see if a sublet is allowed, or you can help the landlord advertise and show your apartment, and as soon as someone signs a new lease, you are off the hook.

**A: then the start date of the new lease actually starts Aug 4/5 2003 and is not void due to the incorrect start date of Aug 1 2003.
