What is the name of your state?CA Ex-wife emailed asking verification of name, address, social security #, DOB & phone number. She says that she's going to give this info to Dr.s & Dentists in the future so they can bill us our 1/2 of co-pay / uncovered costs.

This is in addition/has to do with the same post we did yesterday "Do we pay now or wait?" Basically she is wanting us to pay her before uncovered costs are known because the insurance companies haven't finished authorizing/paying/billing/whatever they have to do. She'll be getting refunds but wants us to pay her now and then she'll pay us back.

She is telling us now that she's going to give father's information out when she takes kids to any dr.s. Can she do this? She has already opened visa's in father's name (without him knowing) & then didn't pay them - we proved that it wasn't his signature and were releaved of responsibility.

She's supposed to have copies of our insurance cards to use if needed but can she actually give out SS & other private info for them to bill us without our concent?

I am about positive that the answer is no. She can give his contact info for the doctors to contact him, or he can contact the dr himself but I am pretty sure the divorce took away her right to "assign" him bills and give out his personal information.

Isn't your SSN on your divorce decree already? And I actually agree with the previous persons statement. She should send you the bill for your portion to pay. Then it's up to you to pay it in whatever fashion you choose.

Frankly I don't think it matters if it is on the decree, the ex has NO right handing out personal information like that. That's why divorces are done to protect the finances of both parties, if the parties could still continue to rack up debts then divorces wouldn't be as necessary.

Tell this idiot ex to quit trying to scam money! I am assuming you gave this information to her.

I'd send her a letter ASAP instructing her she is not to release any of this information to anyone whatsoever, regardless of reason. Also include that any personal information any doctors, dentists, etc need in regards to the children, they should contact YOU directly. If she continues to give out your personal information against your wishes, you will file a civil suit against her.

As far as the credit card thing, did you ever file a report on that to have her busted for credit card fraud?

Also tell her you will not send her any money for any services that have not been rendered. All reciepts (copies of the originals) are to be sent to you noting what's been paid, still due amounts, etc.

Tell her to quit f-ing around and playing games because you will not play them.

That wasn't my point. My point was that she already should know his SSN without him giving it to her. Whether she should HAVE it, is another matter. Frankly, it sounds like she should have her butt thrown in jail for fraud.

Thanks for everyone's responses - we didn't think she could give that info to anyone even a Dr. We will be sending her a certified letter stating that she is not to give that information about father or father's wife (wife carries all the insurance for the whole family) to anyone under any circumstance. I (wife) have had all my insurances change my id # to non-social #'s before giving her copies of cards.

The credit card frauds were handled thru credit card companies. I don't think that hubby wanted to do anything because he was getting custody of the kids & didn't want to cause any more problems that already were going on he just wanted his kids. Nothing was reported to police and his understanding was that it was up to the card company to do something about it. He probably should have filed but would-have, could-have, should-have.... hind sites 20/20.

It's been almost 9 years so I don't think anything could be done now anyhow.
