What is the name of your state? Indiana

Is it legal for an outside person, not involved in a case, write a letter directly to the judge trying to influence him on how to decide the case, before it is even brought to trial?

The judge won't read it. So it doesn't do any good. And attempting to influence a judge may be illegal depending on how such influence is attempted.
