What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

I was employed with a security company from Feb. through Nov. of last year.
When i was first employed the superior had me fill out papers for a non- commission card (not refundable) and told me that if did not get it I could not work. after the first month I started asking for my card until I decide to quit in November. In December I decided to look the company and the commission status of their employees on the Texas Department of Public Safety website and did not see my name for the company or my commission status there.
So I called the main office in Waco,TX and the secretary took my information and told me to expect a call from my old supervisor. She said that they took the money out of my first payroll check and some times it takes a minute to get it processed. I told her that my brother-in-law was employed in April and only work a week and his name was on the website I mention earlier and she said just wait on their call. Today the superior called so I could pick up a envelop he dropped off for me at the Galveston site. When I got it, inside was a hand written check for my commission card and my w-2 form.
Is there some law for what their doing?

I feel like they took money away from me and planed on keeping it without giving me my commission card; that they did not send for. Why wait till I complain 9 months later when I'm not employed by them, to cover their butts with a check that is my own money!

well sir

If I am understanding correctly you got your money back. So what do you think you can sue for?

I was not suppose to get my money back, I was to get my card. I want my credentials for future jobs. How can they give money back for something I already paid for and is suppose to have when I was employed with them.

What their doing is taken your money not giving you what you paid for, and if you don't know that you are suppose to have your card with in a few weeks then they profit $58.00 of your hard earn money> It just so happen I stayed on them about not getting my card, so they decide to give me back a company hand written check three months after I stop working! Something is not right. So basically your saying its right for them to take you money and not provide a service that is suppose to be done in order for you to work?

You would not be able to prove that it was their intention to keep your money forever. They could just claim an administrative error. And you have your money back now.

What were they telling you the whole time you were working there and had not received your card?

Have you reported them to the Texas DPS?
