State is FL.
Dad has custody. FL holds jurisdiction over custody and child support. Mom lives in VA.
Hubby and I were talking tonight about SD's mom as SD brought the subject up. She was asking us about her mom and visitation. Hubby's had primary physical for 5 years. When custody was changed over from Mom to Dad, Mom tried to hide with their child. The reason for the change in custody was due to Mom's non-compliance with the court orders regarding contact, visitation, and other issues...went on for over a year. Three months after custody was changed, Mom challenged the court stating she had no knowledge of the hearings. Long story short, her case was thrown out as she had nothing to back herself up with. There was no visitation order written. Mom has to appear before the judge, and pay a bond for overnight visitation.
I was just wondering if this is a special case, or is it standard for parents who would likely take the child and flee.
Thanks, and Happy Gobble Gobble Day to all who celebrate it.
