My husband and I own 2 real estate properties, due to several reasons, we have fallen behind on our payments. We just managed to work out an agreement to repay the past due amounts on the home we currently reside in. However, as of this morning, we found out that someone who posed themselves as lawyer to my tenants went to our second home which is currently under a "rent to own" contract, and told the people living there that they were foreclosing on the property, and did not even notify us first. Yes, they do have our address, and I was fully aware that something like this was nearing, but I never would have imagined that they would go this far. We fully intend to pay it, I refuse to let it go to the bank. We called the guy who told them, he says he is sorry, but that means nothing at this point, we found out he is one of those "we buy hoses for cash" type of people. The sale for this home has not even been published in the paper yet, the guy said he saw it on the lawyers website, I went there, and my property is not yet on the list. What do you guys think, do I have a right to complain about this, or will they retaliate and make it even more difficult for me to reinstate?
