What is the name of your state? Ohio

I worked for a corporation as a Sales Manager. The de-moted the General Manager and asked me if I would take the General Manager job in the interm. I agreed.

After 4 months and a bunch of hoops they finally offer me the job. They gave me an offer letter and I signed and accepted it. My 1st paycheck with the raise was due on Last Friday. The check was the same as what I had been paid (did not reflect the raise.) I asked them about it and the VP calls me today to tell me that they did not have all of the proper authorization to offer me the raise and they want to re-negotiate.

I told them that was unacceptable and I did not want to re-negotiate. They said that they may possibly get me my raise but it will take a few weeks. this has already drawn out 6 weeks longer than it should have. I am ready to resign. Any thoughts, advise??

Given that they are not required to provide you with an increase at all, and that legally they can lower your wages at any time, your position is iffy at best. Show your offer letter to an attorney in your state if it's that important to you, but don't hold your breath that it will be determined to be a legally binding contract.
