I applied for a sales manager position on careerbuilder.com It was for a Sales Manager-Chemical job posted.

The job requirement description is as follows. word for word: I will also add the e-mail correspondence

Undergraduate degree in science related subject. Preferably Nutrition, Food Science, or other Biological Science field. Prefer individual with 5+ years sales experience with strong knowledge of the Food, Nutritional and Cosmetics industries. Excellent reputation with customer base in the North East Territory. Must be self motivated and able to work independently at the same time able to work well as part of a team. Travel is required, territory is NE US and west to mid Pa.

**75% of these specs MUST BE MET to be considered. Lets not waste both of our times if you can not!!!!

Email responses:

Recruiter: I received your resume but where is the chemical sales experience that my client requires to be considered a candidate. This company(my client) is looking for a seasoned professional with industry experience. Thats why he is paying me the fee rate that i charge, because I am making sure the candidate that I send over is Qualified and comming from the same or similar industry, NOT THE SPORTING GOODS INDUSTRY !

Please review the job spec's and look at the requirements and qualifications and you will see that your background is not a fit for what my client is looking for in a candidate.

IN the world of business you can't force a square peg into a round opening, and with you having your masters (or soon) I would think you would have realized this fact.

My response: In light of your professional and courteous e-mail! You asked for an undergraduate degree in a science related field. Health and fitness in business and industry with a minor in exercise physiology is a science related study. You asked for 5+ years sales experience. You PREFER Food nutrition and cosmetics. Next time you might want to change PREFER to MUST. This way you leave no gray area.

Recruiter: THE POSITION REQUIRES PREVIOUS CHEMICAL SALES EXPERIENCES FROM THE NUTRICAN, FOOD INGREIENT, AND/OR COSMETICS NO THE SPORTING GOODS(RETAIL) INDUSTRY. THE SPEC'S ARE VERY CLEAR, FEEL FREE TO REVIEW AGAIN. THE ONLY GRAY AREA IS BETWEEN YOUR EARS

My response: Do Not send another e-mail to this e-mail address!

Recruiter: I WILL YOU *******JUST FOE WASTING MY TIME, TO LOOK AT YOUR WORTHLESS RESUME THAT DOESN'T QUALIFY AS A FIT APPLICANT, LOSER, JOB HOPPER.

Everything is word for word as it was originally typed. Below is my coverletter. I could not attached or add the resume because the file is too big.

Do I have to put up with this?

Thanks to all!

seabass, ANYBODY can set themselves up as a contingency recruiter. So while there are some very good ones out there, there are some truly horrible ones as well - people with absolutely no professionalism, no ethics, and no idea how to do their jobs. You clearly encountered one of those. Just chalk him up as an a** who won't be in business long and forget about the incident. Just remember his name so you won't respond to any of his postings again and advise your friends to do the same.
