What is the name of your state? New York My mother passsed away a few months ago and she and I had a joint bank account togetther. As if she knew she wasn"t going to be around much longer, she transferred all of her investment monies into our joint account. She did not want her two other daughters to "get a red cent".She had a will 20 years old that included them ,but said that they were just "takers"and said that "their husbands will take care of them".I told her that she should change her will ,and a lawyer said that all 3 sisters would have to be present and agree to the new terms.A situation that my mother said would never happen,as she disliked them so much., and did not want to be in their presence. My concern now is that that I withdrew all the monies from the said account.Could any potential problems arise and should I be concerned? My two sisters are alive.

If you held the stuff with ma as a joint tenant and you are the surviving joint tenant, then you own the stuff now.

Hope and pray that the stupid lawyer who told you that all 3 sisters needed to be present before the will was changed, is willing to tell the other sisters the same thing, or hope that he says nothing at all so that things won't be stirred up. Technically, she should have had the will retyped/revised to include a statement to disinherit the other sisters and the attorney was dead wrong--all he had to do was retype the will from instructions from your mother--he was supposed to follow her instructions.

Are there any assets in the will that still need to be probated? If not, there is no need for the will to even be probated. Does it designate any specific assets to the other sisters?

You need to be taking the will to your own attorney to have it evaluated to see how strong or how weak it would be if the sisters decided to contest it.
