i am a custodial parent in michigan. my ex and i share joint legal custody of my daughter, therefore we must reach medical, educational, and religious decisions together. -- however, i would like to baptize my daughter lutheran while he protests, demanding a methodist upbringing.

i am wondering, --what happens when we can't reach a decision? i would really like to have my daughter baptized soon. i've waited over one year already praying for a solution.

is there a clause that when parties can not agree, the decision will fall on the custodial parent?
please help. thank you.

Well, if you have prayed for a whole year with no solution then maybe you should go with his choice.

Generally what happens if parents do not agree is that they first try mediation. However, if you have reach this point, rarely will mediation solve the problem. So you do whatever you want and let him take you to court over it..

LB! That is the funniest Damn thing I heard ALL day!!

I would like to suggest that she and the X wait umtil the child is old enough to make the decision - this way it is not forced upon the child to be one religion when he/she may possible want the other.

Still laughing......
