What is the name of your state? Indiana

About 1 year ago I filed a small claims suit against a ex-girlfriend that owed me some money. She showed up for the first pre-trial confrence but not the second one. She has moved and cannot be found to be served papers for the trial date. So, judge keeps re-schedualing the trial date and refuses to grant me a default judgment until she has been served papers on the trial date.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The judge is correct, a default judgement cannot be granted till the defendant is properly served. You can hire a process server but most will not look to hard to find the person. You pretty much have to know when and where the person can be reached. Or you can hire folks that are rather good at tracking people down. They can get pricey ($50 to $100 an hour plus expenses) but this can be recovered as one of the expenses of suing someone. I have required the use of a private detective on a couple of occasions and I have been impressed with the guy I hired.
