What is the name of your state? CO

I just received a letter in the mail from a collection agency saying that a judgement was filed against me. I was never served, I didn't know about the court date. Apparently whoever was supposed to serve me lied and said that they served me when they didn't. What can I do?

If the letter references which Court you were suppose to appear, call that Court direct. If not, contact the people on the letter and ask them to verify the judgement.

A little note to the wise...CA will do and say most anything to get you to pay. This letter might be just that.

Forget what the letter says--- for now. Call your local courthouse and get a copy of the judgment case file - if there even IS one. In the file there should be a proof of service form. That will tell you when, where, how, and to whom the summons was served. You MAY have grounds to contest the judgment based on improper service. If this happened recently, you may still be able to appeal the judgment.

What kind of lien - against what ?
