July 15th move in date

I apologize in advance if this topic was already covered. I have a lease that starts July 15th. Before this time the landlord gave me the keys so that I may move furniture into the kitchen as he was going to install new carpet before the move in. Currently as of this afternoon the carpet is still torn up and there are huge rolls of carpet in the bedroom and living room. I do not anticipate him getting done with the job this evening but one can still hope. If the landlord does not install the carpet what can I do to help inspire him to do so? I have called and left messages asking about the move but so far have not heard anything.

A good carpet installer can lay the carpet in a living room and bedroom in only a couple of hours...so don't sweat it. However, if he doesn't deliver the unit in habitable condition by the 15th (as stated in the lease, I assume), your option is to not move in and demand your security deposit back

Some states allow the legal termination of the lease if the unit is NOT move-in ready by the move-in date listed on the lease.

Very simple.... COMMUNICATION!!! COMMUNICATION!!! COMMUNICATION!!!

You have no real expectation of the landlord failing to provide a 'move-in' as scheduled. However, if that does happen, simply ask for an 'adjustment' of your rent for the day(s) delay.
