I'm looking for advice on a situation I'm in. I was married and adopted the children from her previous marriage, we had a child together. We are now divorced and she has remarried . I have been paying support for all the children and have my twice a month visitation. This is the real kicker, since she has been with her now husband the children the children have been made to call him dad and have been told that I'm not their father. It is very un comforting to know that while I'm still legally their father that this has been able to happen. I am wondering if I could be able to relinquish rights of my two adopted and still keep custody of my biological.

Please explain why this would be in the best interests of the children. And why you think the two adopted children are somehow less your children than the one you donated the sperm to create.

(You DID get a paternity test done, right?)

Thanks.

No. You can not simply relinquish rights to your children. If the new stepfather wants to adopt them, it could happen, but otherwise, they're your kids (which is what adoption is all about).

Not to mention, of course, the amount of harm you would be doing to those kids for the rest of their lives. They're every bit as much your kids as the biological child. Throwing them to the curb sends a very strong message to them that they're not loved.

I'd suggest counseling for starters so that you can learn to love and appreciate all of your children.
