My boyfriend has been living with me for about three years and we have a 16month old son. He has been drinking more than he ever has before and becomes very abusive, mentally not physically and does nothing to help out around the house. I would like him to move out but everytime I bring it up there is a big argument that I'm trying to seperate him from his son. Also he doesn't have the money to move. What would be the easiest way for me to get and out of my house and start child support at the same time? Since he has been there for three years do I have to give him some kind of legal notice to move? I live in Illinois.

My response:

Follow instructions.

BIG red words at the top.

umm, I checked my map to be sure ...

Yup, IAAL, Illinois is still part of the US!
The only thing she didn't do is type in all lower case (stupid rule) and I've seen a lot of posts here that don't do that.

My response:

Dear so8air:

The post was edited by the writer AFTER my response. You'll notice that at the bottom of the writer's post, that there is an "edited" notation. Further, you'll notice that in my bolded copy of the writer's original post, the reference to "Illinois" is NOT there.

So, it would behoove you to read EVERYTHING before you make your comments. Remember, details are the keys to law - - and you missed that detail.

Now, on to responding to Shrng's post :

Is the house owned by you, him, both, or is it leased by you, him, or both of you ? If leased, when does the lease end ?

You can file a Petition for Paternity at any time, which will start the ball rolling for you to obtain court ordered child support, etc.
