What is the name of your state? VA
I recently posted an online ad for some furniture I am looking to get rid of. Some of the furniture had been given to me by a landlord (not my own). He said it had been abandoned in an apartment building.
I got many responses to the ad. I got one from a girl inquiring about it. She simply asked she was interested in it. In the meantime, I got another response from somene else, who wanted to buy it today, so I sold it to that person. I sent out an email to the others stating that it had been sold.
I get a response from her that it is her great great grandmothers table and chairs and she wants them back or she will call the police. I told her the table and chairs had been given to me and that they were already gone.
I don't know what my legal rights/obligations are in this situation. Since she abandoned them, am I still responsible for giving them back? or not since she left them behind when she moved? Or is the landlord responsible?
