NEED HELP.

a 19 year old student of Towson University, he seems to be drunk and walked into our house without any Knocks or Door Bell.
He past out on our brand new couch in our living room and neither of my housemates know this man.
When we realized that he was there, we found him urinated on our couch. We immediately woke him up and tried to ask for more information.
He ran around and knocked down many of our electronics and furnitures in the living room. (small damages)
He requested to go to the bathroom and we showed him the way, however, he ran out of the house instead.
We chased after him while we also called the cops. We finally caught up with him and he sat down on the sidewalks on his own and so we waited for the cop to come. He kept giving us fake information about himself.
There were not any physical confrontation very forunately.
The cop got his Real Information when the cop came, he told us that we have an option to file charges if he was not to pay us for the damages. The cop saw the damages and saw that the 19 year old was not hurted (Meaning we did not hurt him in any way at all).
We also took pictures of him on couch and the damages in our house. It has been 3 months now, and he hasn't paid us for the damage. He kept promising but failing to keep those promises.

What Should we DO?
We just want our money to restore our living room.
What Kind of Charges can we charge him with?

the cop told us to either file charges against him immediately or give him a chance to pay us for the damages by the next day as he promised infront of the cop and the residences of the house.
He is not cooperating, and it looks like we have to file charges against him. I want to know what crimes he committed to see how strong of a case we have against him (along with our photos - evidences)

If you would have filed charges in the first place you could have got the damages paid through restitution. I suggest you go that route.

I am amazed that you chose to wake this person, who broke into your home, BEFORE calling the police:eek: ....you need to file the charges.

File charges. Small claims is another option, but then you are out of pocket costs. Press for restitution. Couch guy more likely to pay this way and you wouldn't have to try to collect if you won small claims.

I concur, file charges you have the police reports and your documentation and more than a reasonable amount of time to repay, restitution is more likely to be paid when facing a permanent adult criminal record and time in the clinker. He is looking at B&E, public intoxication etc.
