What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California

I'm posting this for a friend who does not have a computer.

My friend lost her daughter either late 1998 or early 1999. When she did she went into a state of shock which caused her to no longer mentally function. This state of shock lasted several months in which time her other children (all grown) took care of her and made sure she ate and such.

Her husband left her during this time and had not taken care to any of the bills or the mortgage on the house. When she came out of her state of shock all the bills were in final collection and the mortgage was defaulted quite a bit.

She got the bills caught up and filed for Legal Seperation. The Legal Seperation was finalized in 1999. At the time the house was valued at $105,000. There were 2 mortgages on it one for $92,976.54 and another for over $30,000. There were also thousands of dollars in bills which her husband had left for her. During the Legal Seperation she agreed to pay all the bills and the mortgages on the house. In doing this she would keep the house. Her husband agreed as he had no way of paying any of it.

After waiting for 6 years (religious reasons) she finally decided that there was no hope for the marriage and finalized the divorce in July of 2005. The division of property sitll stood from the Legal Seperation.

Now the house is valued at around $500,000 as the property value has increased insanely in our area recently. Her now ex-husband has not lived in the house since before the seperation nor has he financially contributed to it. He has done some minor work and repairs which she reimbursed him for.

About a week ago she recieved a notice that he filed law suit to regain the house from her claiming it had been his mother's house and she "tricked" him into putting it in her name.

Can he legally do this?

You are really lacking in telling this story.

If you are now divorced and property has been settled, don't you think the courts knew who was on the title of the property?
