What is the name of your state?Hello, these questions are pertaining to an attorney we hired in Michigan. We retained an attorney with this in the contract.....

Your family is paying a non-refundable engagement fee of $25,000, which will cover our basic commitment to your case and aticipated time and efforts through the following: our attorney time and effort to represent you for the first 70 hrs or less of attorney time.

We also deposited $20,000 in their Professional Corperation trust to cover any necessary out of pocket expenses and any attorney time over 70 hrs.

We also paid $5,000 for 50 hrs. of non-lawyer consultant services.

That is a total of $50,000 in fees.

My questions and problem is we fired this attourney only a couple of weeks after we hired him. He was not representing to the fullest and very misleading. The client was not satisfied with respresentation. He said himself to be one of the best criminal lawyers in the area. He didn't even know some of the laws and was not accurate in a lot of things. We hired another attorney. The original attorney had made many mistakes that could have been eliminated if we had hired the second attorney from the beginning.

Now for my question, what are we entitled to as far as a refund. I know he didn't spend over the initial 70 hrs. of service and I know he didn't even use the consultant service we paid for. How can I get some of this money back.

Please help!!!
