We hired a lawyer to file some paperwork (related to foreclosure). He was given 30 days to file the neccessary paperwork (served by the "defendants" lawyer-it was a legal code that gave him the right to make us file forclosure paperwork within 30 days) and he did not file. This all happened back in August-all this time we just thought that he was dragging his feet. We didn't know there was time restrictions involved. In fact, starting in December, my husband has called his office every week and he has never returned any phone calls(we just wanted to know what was going on and wanted to find out why he hadn't filed yet). We just thought he was being a slow-now we think he knows he screwed up and didn't want to tell us. The only reason we found out that we got screwed is because we called another lawyer who gave us the info about the 30 days. Therefore, our case against the defendant has been dropped and we can get no money. All because our lawyer did not do his job. We are now seeking to sue him for malpractice and I am just curious if he has been accused of malpractice in the past. Is there a website that I can go to that would show any past malpractice settlements against this lawyer? Also, is it difficult to get a lawyer to sue another lawyer? Thanks!
