What is the name of your state? Missouri
My situation is this: Two days ago I was involved in an accident with another driver. I pulled out onto the hwy, and very shortly after stopped to make a left hand turn. There had been a pick up truck behind me and she pulled out, and according to her was trying to beat the northbound traffic when she rear ended me. My car was totaled, I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, but luckily not severly injured. My car was old, 1989 Dodge Spirit, and I know it's value isn't much, but my question is this...how does an inurance company go about replacing your vehicle? Since my car was old, and not worth much, it is going to be hard for me to find another vehicle if they go by the book value of the car. Do they take into consideration the cost to replace the car, or just the value of the car? And would all my property that was in the car and damaged be replaced? I had a computer in the back seat, and a clainet in the trunk, both destroyed. The driver of the pick up did have insurance and it was commercial insurance? Does that make a difference in the claim? Will I qualify for pain and suffering even though I was not badly hurt?
Any insight to my questions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
P.S. Would my best bet be to contact a lawyer right from the start and find out what I should be expecting? I haven't even had a chance to talk to the adjustor yet, so should I get a lawyer before I speak to them?
