What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

I have been married to my husband 15 years. We have two teenagers. My reasons for wanting a divorce (don't know if it's needed) is due to emotional and verbal abuse and an emotional affair my husband had a couple years ago.
Throughout our married we both worked and earned about the same. 2 years ago my husband started having chronic back pain and was eventually put on permanent disability by his doctor (Although he seems to have no problem coaching softball, moving furniture, fishing, etc). He receives $2000/month SSDI ($1300 for him and $700 for the kids). I gross $2120/month. Along with working full time I am currently in nursing school and will graduate next February and expect that my salary will double. I paid for my own school with student loans in my name.
We have no savings, no investments, only personal property to split. I will have custody of the kids. Do you think I will have to pay alimony? And would there be a difference if I divorced before my salary increases?

You may end up paying some alimony. If you will have custody of the children then you would become their rep payee, and that would leave him with only 1300.00 to live on. However he would not have to pay any child support because the children's benefits would replace that.
