Legal fees

What is the name of your state? CT
Can the management company charge you the legal fees during eviction? I thought I had seen on MSN that that was illegal.
also made a settlement in housing court to bring the late rent current but was told that it was just for the rent that all the other fees were still due but lawyer wouldn't state what they were but that the would come out of the deposit. Can I ask for a list of this fee before we move out?

Any amounts held back from deposits needs to be listed on notice sent to tenant with in time frame local state laws say after tenant moves out. SO to help speed that along when you do move if you send them a short letter a day or so before you move. certified mail telling them what your new address is they will have the new address. AFTER you moved out if they dont follow your states laws for deposit return and notices then they can be taken to court where you can ask for what your state allows as penalty or to ask a court to require more detail be given to you on amounts held or full return when court isnt satisfied by LLs claim. Before you move take pictures showing all damages , wear , etc take pictures of how clean you leave the unit too. dont forget things like pic of stove top, inside oven, fridge, toilet bowl, closets etc then if LL listed cleaning fees and you have enough pics showing how clean it was it would help a court make a decision if LL is acting unfairly.
