What is the name of your state? South Carolina

My lawyer was representing me in a divorce preceding and was not prepared when we went into court. On the day in question my lawyer had not prepared for my case. My husband lived out of state so he had a number of things that he had to do to make sure that he was notified of the divorce precedings. When we went before the judge he did not have proper paper work to present to the judge. The Lawyer had not sent for my husband financial records. The judge could not do anything financially for me not even child support. I had asked for my sons name to be changed in my divorce and he had not even done that paper work. The lawyer allowed me to address the court and I asked that my son's last name be change to his fathers name. The judge stated that he could have taken care of this matter if he had only put it in his paper work. The judge granted me my sons name change, my divorce and full custody of my children. I have not received my divorce papers and it has been almost two months. I have repeatedly ask for the paper work. What do I do now?

File a complaint with these folks if you think your lawyer has committed unethical acts.

Also, go to the lawyer's office and ask for your file (it belongs to you).
