I have unknowingly gone by an alias last name since birth. I was an illegitimate child and have always gone by my mothers maiden name, I found out last year that her maiden name is not my last name. How can I get this changed without a lot of legal hassle and expense?

My response:

Well, gee . . . you're no darn fun. Here, I really wanted to give you the "legal hassle" version, and you just blew that all to hell. Are you sure I can't give you the hard way of doing this ?

Anyway, since you insist on the relatively easy way of doing this, you go to a Barnes & Noble Book Store, or other large and famous bookstore, and buy a book on the subject, from their "legal" section.

Follow these instructions:

Wet hair thoroughly.

Add a dime size of shampoo to hair.

Scrub hair briskly.

Rinse thoroughly.

Add shampoo again.

Rinse.

And voila, your name is changed.

Just wonderin'. . . after rinsing thoroughly, then adding shampoo again, what, if anything, should one do before rinsing again, i.e. wait two minutes, scrub briskly again?
