What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?NM

Does the owner of a house (that has no mortgage on it) have to be notified before someone puts a lein on it? My ex is claiming that I owe him money back from previous court ordered payments and I believe he wants to put a lein on my home for the money (nothing has been decided yet in court). If he should win, how easy would it be for him to do this? Would it cost him extra money to put a lein on the house?

Depends on the type of lien being placed.

If someone (ex or not) gets a judgment against you.... it is VERY easy to place a judgment lien on a debtors real property. In fact, in some states, it is automatically placed upon the judgment being rendered.

Usually less than $20.00. And guess what, any amount paid could be added to the amount of the judgment!! :D
