I have a vehicle that meets the criteria for the California lemon law. I would like to avoid hiring a lemon law attorney if at all possible. If I send a demand letter to the manufacturer on my own, will it be disregarded because I haven't hired representation?

Not necessarily, but most major auto manufacturers have attorneys on staff to fight such legal actions. Without an attorney of your own, it is unlikely that you would get very far, simply because those attorneys usually know how to create enough interference to cause most laypersons enough grief to back off before they even begin.

Trust me, if you plan to go up against a car manufacturer directly, I would enlist the assistance of an attorney who knows enough about how to engage them and give them pause about blowing you off (which they will probably try to do).
