It would be a very, very rare case that you would have specific fact knowledge of to assist in a lawsuit. And in those cases, if they were looking to subpeona people who were working for the company at the time the car in question was manufactured, they would find you if they thought such testimony as you could offer would be helpful.

It maybe covered by NDA, but it may not be, depending on information. However, this does not matter. Because if person in this situation gets court order to give testimony, than testimony has to be given. A contract (NDA) cannot override the judicial system.
What do you think the court will find to be your penalty for breach of contract? At the very least, it will be to disgorge any money you got and force you to pay for the company's attorney. Maybe punitive damages too. That's if they don't get an injunction against you once they hear about it.

Thank you for thoughtful reply. If witness testimony can not be backed by some evidence, how much weight does such testimony carries in court?
