I am filing a defamation lawsuit against a major University. There may also be some civil rights violations involved. I know about slander and libel definitions and am fully confident my case is sound.
What I need to know is the possibility of civil rights violations for denying due process during a disciplinary hearing at a University. Are there any cases that have found the University is a government agency with all the requirements of due process during disciplinary hearings?
What needs to be in place in order to successfully claim a civil rights violation during one of these type of hearings? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
