Living Will for Non US Citizen

What is the name of your state? OH

My friend is a British citizen residing and working in the US. According to him, Living Wills aren't recognized (not legal)in the UK. If he were to have one here in the US would it be vaild? Of course assuming that he became ill while living in the US.
