What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GA

I live in Georgia, and work for a company here in Georgia. I am interested in moving to Honduras (not sure if temporarily or permanently, but at least for 1-2 years, and will likely spend 330 days of 365 there). I will keep a GA mailing address (my mother's home), but will be selling my house here. I will keep my US job and work remotely (I do not need to be "in the building" for the work I do).

I am trying to figure out health insurance through my company. We will only be living a short flight from the US (2.5 hrs), and I intend to come home 1-2 times per year, and schedule my routine visits during those times. In addition, should anything more major (non-emergency) arise, I would fly home to deal with it.

Notwithstanding medical emergencies (for which I believe I would just purchase a supplemental policy to cover emergency situations in Honduras), is there any legal reason I cannot continue to have my US insurance through my US company? I.e., does the fact that I will live much of the year in a foreign country render my US insurance null and void/cause my US insurance company to determine I am not eligible?

Thanks!

The law does not address this issue directly. It's entirely up to the terms of your insurance policy whether you are eligible or not. Most policies will only support emergency care outside of the US.

However, if you don't have any care DONE outside of the US, I don't see why there would be a problem. But you should still speak with the insurance company to be sure.
