When I PCSd from Alaska to Illinois my gaining Military Medical Facility took my records, as they always have. As everyone might recall they are sealed my the military personnel flight when you leave your old base, and in my case had a tamper sticker on them. The problem arised when the gaining medical facility at Scott AFB was transfering them from Physical to Electronic form, they outright lost the medical records, and had to build new ones from what was in the system. The problem was, there wasn't anything in the new electronic files because they lost it BEFORE they transferred them.

I've been out for over a year now. What type of recourse do I have? How can I ever do anything with the VA now that the AF has no records pre-dating July of 2004? I know my father had a similar situation, but his records were lost in that big fire they had some years ago... But, he was able to get his VA benefits (medical).

Thanks

Please clarify... Did the military lose all your medical records? Did they lose all your military records? Are you just trying to make sure you get your VA benefits? How where you discharged?

Don't mean to sound like an *&^hole but what is your question?

They, Scott AFB, lost my Medical Records while they were transfering them from paper to a new soft copy system. Now I am out of the AF, and curious to know how I could prove a SErvice Connected Disability. I was Honorably Discharged, but none of that has any bearing on my medical records.
