I was approved for LTD, own occ, for two years. When I went on LTD, I had to apply for SSDI. It is stipulated in the LTD policy that you apply for SSDI and that LTD benefits will be offset once you are approved for SSDI. I was approved for SSDI in less than two years for a psychological illness that I have had for over half my adult life. I have paid back all overpayment to the LTD carrier. I was approved for any occ and benefits should continue to age 65 unless they try to terminate early for some reason. I have not had any problems so far. I see my mental health doc and PCP regularly to document my condition for proof of continued disability. After any occ approval, do they (the DI carrier) usually leave you alone except maybe once / year to request medical updates and such? Is there anything I am not doing that I should be doing to ensure future benefits? I am simply unable to work anymore due to the chronicity of my illness and must depend on this income until I reach SS full retirement age unless I die before then. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks in advance for any replies.

PS - I had a group policy that did not come with the two year limit on mental health.
