Can a LTD insurance company withhold their payment because I received a lump sum from Medicare when I became disabled? They requested I give them the money and because I didn't they are withholding my monthly pymts. I am also paying taxes on this money (medicare lump sum). Seems to me I paid for this coverage my entire working life and they should be responsible to pay me monthly regardless of what Medicare paid me.
