What is the name of your state? Michigan

In my lease it states that I am required to cut the grass once a week. It also states that I am forbidden from driving on the lawn.

On Numerous occassions I have caught my landlord driving on my lawn to put "junk" in my backyard.

My backyard looks really really bad and I am really upset over this. I have holes all over from tire tracks as well as all the junk that is placed back there. It looks so bad that I have had family and friends tell me I should do something.

Why is it my responsibility to clean up after him? I do not want to upkeep this yard anymore due to this! What can I do??? I was going to send him a letter telling him that I am no longer going to be responsible for upkeeping the backyard, but I wanted to make sure that I am within my legal rights to do this first.

Thanks!

My response:

Of course, you've questioned him about his "practices" and he has said what to you?

Perhaps your landlord doesn't realize this, but you have every right to call the police to have him arrested for trespass. You see, during the lease period, the premise and yard are YOURS; i.e., it's your property, not his. So, have him arrested.

do not hesitate if your forbidden in writting to drive on the lawn, to use a camera and document the damage done to the lawn every time he drives on it.
