What is the name of your state? Arkansas

My employer deducts money from everyone when the cash drawer comes up short. Is this legal?

**A: no, unless your employer is a drug dealer.

That would seem like common sense however AR is a so called "right to work" state and employees have little rights. If I were to be terminated for disputing this could I draw unemployment?

The CORRECT answer is... no. The employer cannot deduct other than legal deductions without the employees prior WRITTEN permission.

Of course they can file a claim for unemployment compensation, but whether he will get it or not will depend largely on the response by the employer. Personally, I would think any review would agree that a termination of the employee in this type of case would allow for payment.

"Right to work" means that you can't be forced to join a union to get work. It has nothing to do with your situation.
