From Pennsylvania...

My father wants to add me as executor of his will along with my brother who is already named as executor in this will. I have another brother that has been named as backup executor but my dad wants to drop him and just have myself and one other brother as co-executors.

My question on this issue - can we just type up this request and go to a notary for this request to be legal in the state of PA?

One other question...is it wise or unwise to have two people assigned as having Power of Attorney?

instead of having to add a codicil to the will, you should really make a new one. This makes a huge difference when the beneficiaries find out that they were originally in the will but then the codicil changed that. In addition to that it, whenever there is a codicil, it is almost contested and results in a nasty suit between the family members. You should go to your attorney and have him revise the will.

What is the power of attorney for? and yes, it is unwise to give two people power.

Thank you for the advise.
The POA question was because my dad currently has my brother as POA but wanted to add me along with him. I already take care of dad's financials but I don't have the POA behind me to legally do this if he were incapable of taking care of things himself. That was the reason for the question on two people having POA - and I agree that it is unwise to assign two people with this power.
Thanks again...

It is also unwise to name 2 people as co-executors--would be much better to give one person that responsibility.
