What is the name of your state?ny
here is a complicated question, my cousin has lived with this guy for 25 years
he never asked her to marry her,for a couple reasons he was married years ago and he got divorced , he owed child support at that time when the kids where little, he never paid taxes and he always worked off the books he said he could never marry her, because if he marrys her the goverment will come and take her assests and money off her, because being his new wife, she will become responsible for money he owed years ago ,for child support and taxes, it that true, the new wife becomes responsible for what he did before he met her, he said he is afraid it would ruin all she has if they got married ,that does not make sense to me , i feel what happened in his other married life has got no effect on her what so ever any good advice would be a blessing for her as they really do want to get married but this problem has always been over there heads, and who could they both talk to to get any legal advice, is,nt there a statue of limitations on these things also. thanks

As long as they never jointly own anything or have any joint accounts, her assets should be safe. However...I honestly wouldn't recommend marrying someone who has never paid taxes. He is never going to have social security or medicare....and as his wife she CAN be held responsible for his medical expenses....which can be quite high later in life.

she wants to marry a man who is more then happy to leave his kids open to the possiblity of going hungry? yuck

so he's a deadbeat dad, evades paying the taxes that everyone else in the country- including her have to pay- not my idea of husband material, but I guess - to each their own
