State: Ohio. In our divorce agreement, I pay the first $100. per child per year and then after insurance the balance is divided that I pay 31% and my EX pays 69%. The orthodontist would not separate our bill and I carried the dental insurance. After talking to my lawyer, he said that if I paid it 100% that my EX would have to reimburse me his share. That was 3 years ago. He is saying he is the one to decide what is medically necessary and what is merely cosmetic. I need some understanding on the medical expenses and how they are viewed and handled in a situation like this. I need to be reimbursed so I can use that money for the next child's braces! Thank you
