I am doing a pro se divorce and I am desperately trying to find out what legalese is needed for me to collect part of my husband's pension and thrift savings plan for it to be legally divided in our divorce?

I also will be doing a QDRO on my own. Married 18 years.

Is there anyone that could help me with this??

You should get an attorney to prepare the documents for you. Or at least get a consult with an attorney. That would be practicing law and you have not stated the state.

Yes, an attorney.

I would love that but I cannot afford it. My husband abandoned me and hasn't given me anything. I am forced to pay everything and he walks away. I want this done and I cannot afford what they want and pay all the bills I was left with.

I will also be going for alimony under the laws in my state.

What you are asking the members of this forum to do would be the unlawful practice of law, which is a crime. In some jurisdictions, it's even a felony.

I'm sorry, but if you will need to get professional assistance, as indicated above. You may wish to contact your local court to find out if they have any self-help resources.

EDIT: Of course, if you aren't in the US (and I have no reason to believe you are), then this advice may or may not be accurate, but this forum still would not be the appropriate place to get answers.

Yes. A lawyer admitted to practice in the unidentified state where your case is pending.

Seriously? Because you think you might be the only woman in your state involved in a divorce from a military spouse?

Fordgirl45, if there are any law schools in your area, they often run "clinics" where third year students, under the guidance of their professors, are able to assist you with legal issues for no or a very low cost. You might want to look into that.
