To who it may concern:
In October of 1999 I had a aortic valve transplant due to endocarditis. I also had a mitral valve annuloplasty ring put on my mitral valve because I had mitral valve prolasp. Now, back in Sept. of 2000 I found out that St. Jude Medical recalled several valves and rings off the market due to a coating they were testing called Silzone. This coating can come off and cause leakage around the ring or valve. My ring was one that was recalled. It is not leaking now, but it is possible that it could. What rights do I have to as a patient and how long do I have to sue if the ring should start leaking in a few years? Do I have the right to join a class action suite if one should come about? I did not ask for the ring to be placed in there but I did agree to it since the surgeon would be operating anyway. Please advise me on what the laws are for this situation. Thank you.
