What is the name of your state? Oklahoma
I am confused. I understand that Oklahoma does not consider parents bills when considering child support and ability to pay. If that is so, why does CSE (when assisting someone with a modification of suport paperwork) require an account of one's bills, credit cards, and value of vehicles and homes owned. Why do they need that information? Just wondering.

I can answer part of it, and just guess at the other part.

The vehicles and homes part is to figure your "assets". Assets are figured pretty much as disposable income at the state level. They think you can always sell these things to get money. Nevermind the fact that if you sell your car or home to get that money, you're out transportation and a place to live. LOL

As for the credit cards, bills and such... I think they're just being nosey because they damn sure don't figeure your income AFTER those things are paid. My SO filled his out, and didn't put anything on there but N/A. Of course, he doesn't have any houses or cars or credit cards or the like, but still....

Well why didn't they go through this dance at the time of our divorce when they were figuring child support. This type of information was not requested then.

The state being noisey??? Do ya think LOL thanks

I dunno...

When I got my divorce last year, they didn't even ask me for any proof at all. My ex's attorney just put down my earnings, and his earnings. (He's the one that filed and had the attorney).

Of course, when my SO filed for his modification though, they wanted his life history pretty much. Bank accounts, tax returns, check stubs, etc. Also he had to fill out this 3 page financial form. Then, his ex had to fill it out too. She claimed childcare expenses, that they ALLOWED, when there is no child care going on. She works 3rd shift, she lives with her mom (and has since their divorce in 1996) the kids are asleep when she goes in and when she comes home, and in school during the day while she sleeps. But, she claimed hse paid her mom X amount a week for child care. BS. She don't pay her mom jack crap. They jsut took her word for it from that form.

I told my SO... he should put ME down as HIS childcare provider then. He works 3rd too, even on the weekends he has them. It's me that's here with them when he's at work, it's me that's here with them during the day while he sleeps... so what's good for the goose should be good for the gander, eh? LOL

in both my husbands original divorce and modifications, and in my own support case, everyone had to fill out financials. even though in the end all both states really wanted to know was how much the NCP made a year.

the only way I see "assets" coming into play would be if someone was making little money and/or not paying thier support.

like if my husband and I lived in an expensive house and had lots of toys, yet suddenly my husband could not meet his support obligation. or the ex has big house, lots of toys but cannot make her ends meet.Sort of like future ammunition against the parties.
