What is the name of your state? Tennessee
For the second time this year my husband is unemployed again, and is drawing his last 2 checks this month, for the past year we have used all of our retirement paying our mortgage and other bills until it finally ran out.
We recieved a letter from a mortgage company saying that if we had financial problems they were willing to work with us, but when my husband called them they said they could not help him unless he was employed, we have no money left to pay the mortgage. It is 6 days overdue, and the mortgage company has called us 6 times since yesterday morning. We have put our house up for sale, its been up since september, and the sale price is what we owe on the house but we havent had any buyers and we just refinanced 2 years ago. We dont want to ruin our credit which right now is excellent and are willing to make payments we just cant afford but a very minimum payment at this moment, and as soon as my husband went back to work we would start paying the full amount again, is there anything we can do to stop the harrassment or get our mortgage company to lower the payments? at least till the house sells or till my husband goes back to work?
Also one wierd thing is the mortgage company says it no longer owns our mortgage but is only handling the paperwork but they claim they do not know who actually owns it.
