Long story in short form:
A year ago, my now ex-boyfriend (call him Ray) and I attend the same college. While I was in the emergency room of a local hospital, my boyfriend informed me by phone he was breaking up. Shortly thereafter Ray filed for and was granted a restraining order, which allowed for 'incidental contact' at school.
The day before the next semester was to start Ray had me arrested for violation of the restraining order, claiming he received an e-mail fron one of our mutual friends stating that I had asked questions. I did not ask that party to ask the Ray anything, but could not prove it.
In court, his ' victum's rights' statement to the court Ray asked that I be banned from the college we both attend!
Reluctantly, the judge upheld the charge against me, adding that if there were no further violations for the duration of the restraining order (1.5 Yrs.), my record would be expunged. I recieved notification of the expungment 3 months later!
Attempting to move on with my life and get my education I have moved off campus, made no attempts and have no desire to contact Ray or any past 'mutual friends'. Yet I am continually approached by other students (whom I do not know) with negitave comments and incorrect details of the 'break-up". My new roomate (who doesn't know Ray) has been told by some students to 'be careful' around me. Others have informed me of Ray's web site containing negative statements about me. Statements made by my supervisor at work (an new acquaintance or Ray's) made working there so unbearable I had to quit.
It was clear by Ray's letter to the court that his agenda is to get me way from this school! I have contacted other schools, but leaving this school is not an option at this time, due to the lack of transferable credits. All I want to do is get enough credits to allow moving on to another school!!!
Is there any legal recourse I could use to stop Ray's actions / agenda?
