What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota

I have one basic long question. In Minnesota, as a union member, my union has filed step 3 and the hearing was held with regards to my termination. They were to notify me of their decision within 7 business days, or ask for a extension. With the state on strike, neither took place. I am wondering if I HAVE to wait for this process or may i file a civil suit which is what I really wish to do? I know for fact I would win in court as they have not followed the "PAST PRACTICES" in my case. Please advise

Is “Step 3” part of the grievance process? If so, you have to wait for the grievance process to run its course entirely.

Once your grievance options are exhausted, the union can then petition for arbitration on your behalf. Hopefully, the union is poised to do so.

Generally, you, as individual grievant, cannot “go to court.” You are limited to seeking a remedy through the grievance-arbitration procedures pursuant to the CBA with the union shepherding your cause.
