My name is Dele O. I am a hip hop artist from canada (manitoba). there is a clause in my contract that reads

"Those compositions composed by the artist and pursuant to this agreement ("Controlled Compositions") shall yield a 50?50 split of gross publishing revenue"

From my own research i have found that a co publishing deal is more beneficial for myself my question is this. How does a co-publishing deal work in regards to mechanical royalties as well as performance royalties? Do i ask for 100% of the writer's share and 50% of the publishers share for both?
